Welcome from Our Pastor

Mt. Pleasant Baptist has been my home since 1980. These years have been some of the most exciting days that I have experienced as a pastor. We have seen many come to Jesus Christ by faith and their lives have been changed. It is an amazing thing to see what Jesus can do in a person’s life.

The Lord has blessed us with  wonderful group of believers who love Jesus, who love each other, and who love lost [unsaved] people. Our desire is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone.

The church is looking forward with plans to construct a new church building. We want to build for God’s glory and reach more people with the Gospel and teach them to serve Him.

You are always welcome at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and you have an open invitation to worship with us at any time.

Let me tell you a little about my family. My wife, Sue, has been by my side for 43 years. We have two sons, Matt and Terry. Matt and Christie who reside in Pontotoc have two daughters—Olivia and Abigail. Terry resides in Birmingham, Alabama.

Where GOD is First

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church

The Lord is really blessing Mt. Pleasant and I am so thankful to be a part of this Church. I surrendered to the gospel ministry in July 2005 and came here in September 2005 as Associate/Youth Pastor. I know God has called me to preach. So,  my mission from day one has been to preach the Word and to teach others to grow as Christians (Ephesians 4:11-12).

I am also the youth pastor here and I do love our students. At Mt. Pleasant, I’m not in this ministry alone. We have many youth workers, AWANA leaders, and Sunday school teachers. Every one of these people is an important part of our ministry. At Mt. Pleasant we want our students ministries to be about:

1. clearly teaching young people how to be saved;

2. growing in the Word by getting in the Word;

3. learning to put faith in action by serving in our Church, schools, and community.

We have an awesome group of students and our prayer is they become rooted and built up in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:7).

A little about my family...My wife is Susan. We have two sons, Josh and Jake. Doing things with my family is my favorite pastime. We like card games, fishing, playing baseball and soccer, and watching Ole Miss football.
